Almost Omnipresent Eagles

We are delighted to have the eagle pair either in the nest tree or in the Scenic Snag nearly all the time. Sure makes me excited for Photography Season, which can last until mid-October. Here they are right now taken from the deck, and the nest is right where my name is attached. Last year incubation began around March 3rd, and this would be there seventh year in a row, hopefully!

Suet Feeder Scores

We have lots of bird feeders and definitely aren't targeting House Sparrows (seed) and magpies (suet) but hopefully the good species learn as well. Although magpies are native and cool, we have Eurasian Collared Doves in droves. Here's a nice Pileated Woodpecker in the front yard.

1979 Mad Dog Blues Band

In a previous life I was the singer in a blues band, this photo re-surfacing from the Olden Days of Missoula - Luke's and the Top Hat and a couple of tours in 79's including the first ever Sweet Pea Festival in Bozeman. They had mistakenly booked us as a folk band and I think we changed the audience blend when we came on stage with some hard core blues. That's Diana Redlin (harmonica), Kate Phillips (vocals), Kevin Canty (guitar), Mark Ellsworth (piano), Erik "Fingers Ray" Gustafson (guitar) and Don Mazolla (drums). What a trip.

Another Blast from the Past

Our first Great Horned Owl Bobo also taken in 1989 with slide film! Named not for the species Latin name, but for a friend we had that slept all day, nicknamed "Bobo."
